The Mahamuni Temple, located near Mandalay, is an important pilgrimage site. The television screen in this subsidiary shrine is a constant live feed of the main image of the complex, a Shakyamuni Buddha at the moment of enlightenment. This enables crowds to see the main image if they are unable to access the spaces closest to the main image.
