Description:

by Jessica O'Leary

Looking down on Lhasa Valley from the south, taken from an elevated position on a nearby mountainside and showing a number of important features. Lhasa town dominates the center of the photograph, with Karma Künsang (skar ma kun bzang) visible to its right and the Potala visible on the far left. In the distance, Sera Monastery can be seen at the base of Purbuchok Mountain on the left side of the image and Drapzhi (grwa bzhi) can be seen in the center distance, with the entrance to Dodé (dog bde) Valley behind it. There are a number of wooded parks and public spaces on the outskirts of the town. The white mark in the center of the image seems to be from a scratch or mark on the negative or pfrint from which this print was made as a copy.
