Resource #: 19471 (URL for reference)
Collections: 2001 Upper Tibet Antiquities Expedition (UTAE)
Description:
An archer on foot in close pursuit of what appears to be a stag, bkra shis do chen (J-2). The ungulate has large branched horns resembling antlers. The anthropomorph has an elongated torso and small head, seemingly archaic features of depiction in gnam mtsho rock art. I first described this probable pre-Buddhist pictograph in Bellezza 2002b, but this is the first publication of the image. It is found in a tiny fissure in the limestone formation, making photography difficult.Associated Resources
